Artistic practices for

peace building

Since 2007 the La Paz is a Work of Art program has developed different projects, interventions, research - creation proposals and training proposals articulated to different University dependencies, with former FARC combatants, their families, victims of the armed conflict, teachers and the community in general.

Given the knowledge developed from these significant experiences, we see the need to offer a theoretical-practical training space that allows students of the Faculty of Arts to explore methodological tools for community work from the different languages of art. Thus, an interdisciplinary work is proposed by modules that cover the central aspects of some of the disciplinary lines that have been developing in the program such as: Art and Healing, Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), Theatricalities and Clown.

The purpose is to promote a culture of peace, that is, one that values principles related to human rights: life, equality, inclusion, fraternity, freedom, diversity, pluralism, creativity, cooperation or solidarity, among others. Through various artistic strategies we seek that these principles materialize in the community through a collective construction of values, attitudes, cultural traditions, behaviors and lifestyles that promote peaceful coexistence, dialogue and debate, as fundamental tools for inclusion , reconciliation and the creation of participatory projects.

This course is an important strategy of the program La Paz is a Work of Art to support the construction of subjectivities, coexistence and respect for difference from artistic practices, both for the external and internal communities of the University, developing processes from the arts that contribute to the construction of memory, peace and reconciliation, strengthening the arts and culture at the institutional level in the post-conflict context and enabling spaces for the reconstruction of the social fabric.
